Caramelpalooza Fail

I had big plans. Jacob and Elise and I were going to attend Caramelpalooza. I've been dreaming of this event for weeks. Free caramel, at a candy competition? Yes! Taking place at a candy store that I've been dying to go to for years? Yes! That Jacob's bakery is competing in? Yes!

Plenty of photo ops? Yes! So that I can blog about it and prove to Leslie that I'm having as much fun in Arizona, as she is in New York? Yes! So that she will want to move back? Yes!

True, it was all very scheme-y of me. And I guess that's why it backfired. I got sick on Caramelpalooza Day. I had an upset stomach. I felt like I was going to throw up in the afternoon, but I never did. So I had a snack, felt better, and we were on our way. We even drove through Arby's on our way there, and I felt well enough to have a sandwich.

And then we arrived. We got out of the car, packed Ells up in her stroller, and headed to Caramelpalooza. And I got dizzy. And wobbly. And I thought I was going to die. Jacob asked if I wanted to sit down, and pointed out the one and only available chair in the whole place. He and Ells held our place in line, while I sat down next to the cheerful planter of bright yellow and white flowers.

Which I proceeded to puke on. 4 times. Jacob called me: "I'm at the front of the line, come meet me." I answered: "Gah. Death. Can't move. Never eat again. Bring me some candy!"

And thus ended Caramelpalooza. So, instead of cute family shots by the twinkling lights, faces shining with the glow of sweet caramel sugar, you get this picture of me. Eating crackers in bed. So Leslie, don't you want to move back now?

Ah Crystal. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for you, I'm sorry that Jacob was stuck at the front of the line without you, I'm sorry for the flowers that you barfed on, and I'm sorry for the people that saw you barf on the flowers.

My most favorite person in the whole world! I LOVE YOUR FACE!!!! I am so lost without you out here across the country and I dream of the day we will be reunited. The plan involves kidnapping you robbing some sort of financial establishment and taking you to Aruba with me where we will live out our days sipping on drinks that come out of coconuts.

Feel better soon love bug! You are the prettiest and funnest and this blog post makes me miss you like crazy!

Crystal, I truly appreciate you for attempting to woo Leslie back to the sun. I am very very very sad that you were not able to experience Caramelpalooza the way you had dreamed. I just have one question......this sickness sounds an awful lot like maybe, just maaaaaybe you could be cooking a little sibling for your little chunk of baby love...????
